Calling all Austin area high school student artists! This t-shirt design contest is your chance to use your graphic design talents and enter a unique, original design for a Blue Whale Moving Company, Inc. t-shirt. The winning entrant will receive $1000 and the winning entry will be printed on Blue Whale Moving Company, Inc. mover t-shirts. Second prize will receive $500 and Third prize will receive $250. All entrants must agree to be bound by Blue Whale Moving Company, Inc. T-Shirt Design Contest Rules (located here).

Design Guidelines

• Your design can be inspired by BLUE WHALE MOVING COMPANY, INC. in general, or maybe an iconic image of a Blue Whale.
• Your design may include the words “BLUE WHALE MOVING”. Best not to have other words, though that’s not a hard and fast rule.
• The design could just be typographical in nature. So you type designers, go nuts.
• The shirt should be something that someone would want to wear even if they don’t know the company. In short, universally esthetically pleasing. Easy, right?
• It should be inspired by Blue Whales or Blue Whale Moving Company, Inc.
• Do not include existing Blue Whale logos. If you want to include a logo of your own design, great.
• Your design can only be on the front of the shirt.
• You may submit as many designs as you wish, but they must be submitted as separate entries.
• Your design must be wholly original. By submitting a design you are guaranteeing that you hold rights to everything in it, and that it does not contain any copyright material. This is really important. It will keep you from being sued.

Design Specifications

• Your design should contain a maximum of eight (8) colors (plus the shirt color).
• Your design can only be on the FRONT of the shirt. It is a 11” wide x 17” high rectangular area.
• You must choose a color for the fabric of the t-shirt. If a design could work on more than one shirt color, please indicate that. You may also view the shirt color options here.
• If submitting digitally, your submission should in JPEG, GIF, or PDF format and be no larger than 5MB. If you win we will ask you for the high resolution files.

Submission Agreement

• You must be 18 years or older to submit. If you’re younger you can still make a design, but it must be submitted on your behalf by a parent or guardian.
• Any submitted design becomes the property of BLUE WHALE MOVING COMPANY, INC. We have to do that to protect ourselves legally.
• BLUE WHALE MOVING COMPANY, INC. will have all rights to the winning design. By submitting you agree that if your design wins a prize, it can be used by BLUE WHALE MOVING COMPANY, INC. on a T-Shirt, truck or other promotional items.
• The 1st Prize winner will receive a prize of $1000. (Yeah!) $500 for 2nd place and $250 for third.
• We reserve the right to make adjustments to the winning design.
• You must submit your design by 5PM March 26th, 2010.
• Entries will be judged by the staff of BLUE WHALE MOVING COMPANY, INC. with the winners announced on April 7th, 2010.

Submitting Your Design

• To submit via email, send your design to TShirtContest@BlueWhale.com. Include a signed copy of the submission form. Include the words “Design Contest” as well as your name and the name of your school in the subject line of the email.
